Improving the skills of all civil servants, through Government Campus
Government Campus is transforming learning for the whole Civil Service. Whatever your role, your level of seniority or your geographical location, Government Campus supports you to progress your career, armed with the skills, knowledge and networks you need. It is working to offer a single platform from which civil servants can access all the skills learning they need.
Launch of the Leadership College for Government
The Leadership College for Government was launched as part of Government Campus in 2022 and provides a high-quality programme for managers and future leaders in the Civil Service and wider public sector.
Civil Service apprenticeships
The Civil Service apprenticeship strategy is providing good quality entry and progression pathways for apprentices on schemes like the Operational Delivery Apprenticeship. The Home Office has successfully achieved 16th place in the Top 100 Apprentice Employers 2024.
Policy assessment and challenge at the Ministry of Defence (MoD)
The Secretary of State’s Office of Net Assessment and Challenge (SONAC) is providing assessment and challenge on policies and issues for the MoD.
Reform in the Civil Service Fast Stream
Higher standards of core training were introduced and more opportunities created outside of London. The reformed Fast Stream will also increase the number of civil servants with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills.
New Civil Service Line Management Standards
New Civil Service Line Management Standards have been introduced in June 2024. They provide line managers with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective line management within the Civil Service.
